The Black Chef Foundation Presents :
The Summer Initiative
This summer, Black Chef Movement is doubling down on our commitment to food justice and community care. From June through September, we’ll be nourishing New Yorkers through monthly givebacks, hot meal distributions, a back-to-school drive, and — for the first time — the launch of a BCM-sponsored community fridge.

The Summer Initiative
Since 2020, Black Chef Movement has been a trusted presence in the community — showing up, feeding folks, and advocating for a more just and equitable food system.
This summer, we’re aiming to raise $5,000 to fund:
Fresh produce and prepared meals for monthly community events
A fully stocked community fridge — open 24/7 and accessible to all
Transportation and distribution of food across NYC
School supplies for our annual Back-to-School Drive
Continued advocacy and nourishment for communities fighting for justice.

Why a Community Fridge?
A “friendly fridge” is a public, community-powered refrigerator that provides free food to anyone who needs it. It’s a mutual aid effort rooted in trust and care — take what you need, leave what you can. This summer, we want to launch our own fridge to serve as a permanent hub for nourishment and resource sharing.
